Haunted by the appearance of Magpie, Mister Great gets captured by the devious Headmaster

I sit tied to a chair in a darkened room. A single shaft of light comes from some where above me and illuminates a small stage where The Headmaster stands. He paces back and forth in front of a blackboard he has scrawled various times tables on.

He would not have caught me if I had not been so distracted by this Magpie character. It has been 2 weeks since he showed himself to me and killed that mugger and since then I have been desperately trying to find anything that I can, but he is nothing but a shadow.

It does not help when villains like The Headmaster decide they wants revenge for putting them away. It started 3 days ago, a fire at the local secondary school where he used to work put me on his trail and since then I have been chasing his tail around the town.

I used to think these themed villains were amusing and I would actually have fun chasing them around, it made doing what I do bearable, but right now there's a psycho out there.

The Headmaster drones on and I can feel myself getting bored, I've heard it all before, about how he was wrongfully accused of inappropriate conduct toward members of the student body. I broke into his home and quickly found a secret dark room that contained hundreds of photos.

He says something about a bomb as he whips his cane into his palm and looks at me through those small rectangular glasses. Now I know his end game I whisper “now” into the comms concealed in my hood and like a bullet released from a gun my partner reacts.

Some where above, in the darkness, glass shatters and shards fall to the floor around The Headmaster, his cheek is badly gashed open, but that is the least of his worries. A small figure drops in behind The Headmaster as he is distracted by his wound and whacks him round the back of the head sending him unconscious to the ground.

She is my paramour and my everything. When I decided to be a superhero there was no way I was going to leave her out and she jumped at the chance to join me. Now she stands over the sleeping body of The Headmaster in her black and white plaid skirt and a crude skull sprayed on her armour.

“Is there ever a plan where you don't get yourself captured?” She says with a smile.

“It's the easiest way to get these sociopaths, they just want attention.” I reply as I pull the ropes from around me, I could have freed myself at any time, but then I would not have known about the bomb.

“I'm guessing you know where the bomb IS then?” She says.

“Of course, the times tables on the chalk board. 6 times 8 does not equal 47 and neither 9 times 4 equal 35.”

“Grid references! What's the bet there is a school or something there.”

That is when he reveals himself again.

“You think you've won? He will come back, they always come back. The only way you will win is to make sure people like him can not commit another crime again.” The Magpie says in a dark voice.

“You again?” My partner exclaims, but Magpie is already disappearing out the skylight my partner just came through. He was there this entire time.
