not letting yourself get hurt...

You're stabbing at the memories in my broken heart. You're reminding me of the bad times that tore me apart. Smashing every wall I built up, pulling out the stitches. Trying to make me feel something again. You ask me for forgiveness but why would you have changed. What would ever give me the idea that you are not the same. You say you made a mistake and you would take it back but unfortunately you can't. You say you have to live with it like a heavy weight. But you do not know pain as yours will slowly fade away. I am left with scars however from where you hurt me back then.  You ask me for a second chance and promise you have changed, but the thing is I already promised myself. Never Again.

I can relate.
I'm not sure if you're referring to emotional or physical scaring but either way I like it.
Keep it up.
