From this day on i will start to believe

Nothings impossible if you want to achieve

Its been hard all this time trying to get us to hear

His education below average, no concentration, with only my guidance to steer

Hardly a teacher, barely a fountain of knowledge

Just scraping my hairdressing NVQs back in college

At times so frustrating, you showed absolutely no interest

I plodded along determined id give you my best

You wouldn’t look at the tasks, slumped your head on your hand

I encouraged you still, pulled your head out the sand

We did it together put the pen to the book

At first just some scribbles, i got you to look

As i squeled with delight, “thats it son, look what youve done!”

Your persona changed, you smiled believing youd won

“are you proud of me mum, am i doing it right?!”

“thats incredible son, look at you your so bright!”

Suddenly i saw the light come on in your eyes,

Desperate to please me again, you gave it another try,

When what you had in your head didn’t come out through the pen

You got frustrated and mad, about to give up again

I gave you a cuddle and told you to no worry

Me and you would do it together, you would seen right a story

You gave a hug and smile and said i love you

Believe me my precious your mum loves you too!

I fetched you a snack as we swapped to a book

“I cant do this!” you`d sulk, refuse to even look

Well not if you don’t try, look its really not so bad,

Spell out the letters right here don’t get mad

It will take a few shots but one day it will all click

And as promiced it did, cause i know your not thick

You have severe difficulties that affects you at school

But i always make sure they stick to the rules

They support you like me and wait for your wonderful brain

I tell you its special, like the engine of a train

Its surrounded with mummy dust to look after your head

It works extra hard to help you every night when your in bed

But we cant tell your friends they aren’t as lucky as you

To have mummy dust helping them read like you do

You suddenly look proud of your new super brain

I will do what i can for you not to feel different or feel any strain

I had to nag hard at times to keep your teacher on her toes

Hes doing so well now, i told her while your confidence grows

Your 6 and a half now, at school your in year 2

And finally they are all taking notice of how well you can do

I tucked you in tonight, after you brough home an award

They gave you in assembley with a gift as theyd applaud

To most no big deal about a small bit of card

But it proves me and you stick together, no matter how hard.

And i promiced myself i would do what i could

To help you achieve things in life like every mother should

Weve always had such a bond, we always been a team

U know i will help then it aint as hard as it seems

I might not be perfect, ive messed up alot

Im proving them all wrong, that my parentings hard

And if one day when your older you decide you want to go to big things

Ill be there just as i am helping you now you wont go without a thing

And i can see now that smile, the happy vibes you give off that IS down to me

Its infectious and rubs off on whoever you see

Your an amazing little boy, with so many special traits

Don’t you ever let anyone make you doubt it little mate!!
