He awoke, sitting up in his bed.  He didn't understand, that same nightmare, every single night.  He got up, sweat running down his back and neck.  He walked to the kitchen, grabbing a drink before going back to bed.  The light above flickered, signaling it needed change.  Out of the corner of his eye he saw something, long black hair. He furrowed his eyebrows, he was confused, but he just shrugged it off, thinking it was just his imagination due to the nightmare.  He walked back to his bedroom, turning off the lights as he went.  He saw it again, long black hair, but he just kept walking.  He was just scaring himself, it was just his mind playing a cruel joke on him.  It looked to much like someone he knew, someone he didn't want to see, and the thing was, he couldn't see her, because she was dead. She had been dead for a while, twelve years, since he was ten.He walked fater, slamming his door closed and crawling into bed.  He looked up, noticing the closet door was wide open.  He knew it had been closed before he left the room, and that fact terrified him.  His heart started beating faster as he went pale, his mind gave into the idea that he wasn't alone.  He gasped as he felt the pierce of cold metal on his temple.  He turned to his right, even though he already knew who it was.  He looked into her grey eyes as her finger held the trigger.  The gunshot was heard, then silence, then he awoke.  He was confused, he didn't understand why he kept having that nightmare, over and over.  He got up from his bed to the kitchen to get a glass of water before going back to sleep, when something caught his eye.

BACKROUND: So basically he is living his hell. The woman that shoots him is his mother.  From the age of five to ten she abused him, and when he was ten, he got tired of it.  His father left them when he was young, like four, that's why she got abusive.  So, one day he decided he was going to kill her, so he got up in the middle of the night to sneak into her room to do it, but she got up as well (hinting the kitchen scene), so when he saw that she was up, he hid (hinting the corner of his eye thing), then she went back to bed so he snuck in and opened the closet door (the closet door was opened) and grabbing her pistol (the cold metal held to his head was the end of the gun) and shot her (the gunshot). But he regretted shooting his mother so he is living his hell.  and the reason he wakes up is the gunshot (that's why it said the gunshot was heard then he awoke) because the gunshot wakes him from the nightmare, which is the night before.  So basically it's a cycle. He took the place of his mother, basically showing him what it felt like for her to be shot by the only thing she had left, her son.
