I didn’t know him very well, but he was in my tree.
So I thought I should pay my respects to him and his family.
Then I realized his family is my family.
I don’t know them, just another face on the street.
Thinking to myself what a shame
My own blood and don’t even know them.
But that’s the way life is.
Why do sad things bring fellowship?
It should be on happy occasions
How can we celebrate each others lives?
When someone just has died
Every time I see the leaves
It’s in black attire
Those branches that belong to me
I should have known since I was three
But twenty years later and I am meeting them for the first time.
It doesn’t make sense.
But I guess that is the way life is
Will you keep in touch?
Or will the miles between us keep us apart.
I can call you, you write me
I email you, you myspace me.
What ever it takes, let’s not spend
Any more time a part. For you are in my tree
There are just too many leaves in a tree to know them all
But I don’t even know the ones close to me
No need to blame the branches
Because now that we know who we are
We shouldn’t continue to be strangers
Or we’ll never see each other again
Until life has been taken
Let's not let death be the thing to bring us together
For we are leaves of branches of one tree
So let’s reunite in unity
So that our leaves will know their leaves

And for generations to come we will leave the greatness of unity
