A Soliders Tale

By:Charles Vollmer

April 8,2009

I walk these decimated allies

mortor shells and building pieces

lying all around me.

The desert winds whip

all around me,

telling tales of this war.

I tell myself its going

to be okay,that i can

make it through another day.

Then i see something that

breaks me down.

The charred body of a

young boy.

I start to cry,my

tears streaming down my

face burning the flesh

like acid rain.

I grab the boy and

hold him in my arms

like he was my own little child.

It reminds me why I'm here.

That I can make it one more year.

I can stay because I love

my family,my country,

and in the end love will prevail.
