this is a poem i wrote that i based off a painting by Marvin Cone called, 'Remembered Light' It's displayed in the Coe College Library. Don't even try to google a picture of the painting because you won't find one...i tried everything. But, if you're ever in Cedar Rapids, tell me, and i'll take you to Coe so you can see the painting...lol.

Remembered Light (based off a painting by Marvin Cone)

Thepiercing colorof the day,

Fades away,

Taking warmth and tenderness with it.

~

The blazing ball sinks below the clouds

Disappearing from view,

Hiding away for a time

~

I sigh in reserve and step into the cold,

Dull and faded light.

I cannot hide the loneliness I feel,

As the night creeps in around me

~

To make it through,

I think back to the day gone by.

I think of the brightness and the warmth,

And wish they’d return to me now.

~

But the soft, tender haze

Won’t come again

Until the morning breaks.

For now, I must remember the warmth

As I’m swallowed up by the cold, dark night.
