The Truth of the Night

This is something i kinda just came up with. It's about the war and the president--mostly metaphorical.

In the truth of the night,
People can see,
What can’t be seen in the day.
~
In the truth of the night,
People will hear,
What they didn’t want to say.
~
In the truth of the night,
You’re all alone,
With your misery and your lies,
~
In the truth of the night,
Truth will be shown,
And you’ll hear the many cries.
~
Cries of fury,
Cries of hate,
Cries of things that couldn’t wait.
Cries of loss,
And cries of pain,
Falling faster than the rain.
Cries of fear and cries of war,
Cries of victims on the floor.
Cries of them,
And cries of me,
Do you think you’ll ever see?
~
See what you’ve done,
See what you’ve caused?
Do you know what this country’s lost?
I don’t think you want to hear,
The cries of pain and cries of fear.
I don’t think you want to see,
The victims falling to their knees.
~
So now what are you going to say?
That you’ve destroyed the U.S.A.?
You’ll never admit, to your lies,
Because you never want to hear our cries.
You’ll never admit you’ve caused us pain.
And we’ll never shield you from the rain.

wow that poem was really good. very well-written. i love your verse lengths and how you rhymed them. and it definitely makes a clear statement about our country's current situation. *sigh* sometimes i think that no matter who gets elected next, they are going to be walking into so much of a mess that they are going to be completely disliked by the country no matter what they do about it.

Oh, yeah. The poem would show up in my index when I was just on my profile, you know. But when I looked at my public profile, it wouldn't be there...

I like the poem. It was very cool. I disagree with you that everything is Bush's fault (don't get me wrong, he's a moron and a terrible president), but Congress keeps approving everything. Although what they approve starts with Bush...Then again, I could argue with myself for hours about the political aspects of it.
You did a great job getting your message across, and it had a wonderful...sounds good-ness...
Of course, every candidate right now is also an evil moron, so no doubt you'll be able write something else great like this again.

Nice work. Of course it's a shame so many people neglect Bush's right-hand man, The Vice President Dick Chaney aka, Dr. Evil. That guy, in alot of ways, is every bit as guilty as Bush.

I must say a very good piece, and how sad that it rings do true, we have two men, Bush and Cheney who basically destroyed all this Nation was built on, in eight short years, now we have 2 canidates and their runningmates who show no promise at all, and all four of them are rife with scandal and continuly sling mud at one another or lie, and thanks to the media, the whole damn election has become something like a realty t.v. popularity contest show.

God help us and the world, when it comes to whoever runs this nation after November.

Ok well to start with the poem itself. I really really liked this. Being a republican who DOESNT hate Bush, and a mother of a son who spent last year in Iraq, I read this not even realizing people were attributing it to his administration. I read it from a different point of view I guess. When you used the word "you" I assumed you ment like, all government and all people. Or basically anyone in power. I stand by what I said, I really liked this. I was moved by it and I think it was written well.
