Ink stabs the page

Pages turn

My fury burns

Scorches in vain.

Black text cages:

I must know,

absorb,

learn,

be a sponge.

Yet in a drought.

X marks the spot

(Page 75)!

Joy! Pure eagerness!

Eyes race back

and forth;

Shovel quickly worn;

pounded and rusty:

Exhaustion:

to follow

a typo.

The sun sets;

Another day gone.

Another pile of ashes;

Another fruitless search;

Another barren trove.

Darkness settles;

Another day gone.

Another perfect pebble

in Life's hourglass.

Another flawed diamond,

In the jar of dreams.
