His fingers graced her shadowed moon,

Ravishing in her whispered swoon

Burning brighter, in that niche for two,

That curious crescent blue;

Waxing and waning

In every pocketed breath

Beating cross her brow.

Where was smart caution, now?

When the last of her strength spilled

To clean cotton warmth

And the mercy of woven seas,

There, the murmured treasures be,

Shipwrecked in the damasked night,

Strumming the last silver threads

Of fading moonlight.
