This is yet another paper I did for one of my English classes. However, this is a real park/lake that I just love. I don't know exactly what makes this place so special to me, but it's so peaceful there.

I sit on a bench observing the view at a local park. It’s a rather friendly place to go for a walk, feed the geese, roller skate, bicycling, or fishing.
The scenery here is priceless. The sky reflects in the lake from the bright sunshine and adds small sparkles on top of it as the geese glide across it. The tops of the trees sway slightly in the breeze.
I get up from the bench and walk over to where the geese are. I have crackers in a plastic bag so I can feed them. They come over as soon as they see the crackers, but are hesitant. One hisses at me as if threatened by my closeness to them. I throw the saltines into the water and they are soon gobbled up. One little girl approaches me and asks if she can have some to feed the geese. I put some into her tiny hands. She giggles with delight and then helps me throw the rest into the water. An older lady approaches me and thanks me for sharing with her granddaughter. I smile at them both.
I start to walk around the lake. I see some older men sitting comfortably in their lawn chairs patiently waiting for the fish to bite. After I pass them, I ask if they have caught anything yet. They say no but smile at me as if they are hopeful. I see off in the distance a young lady who is walking her little black dog. The dog barks and chases some blackbirds nearby. The dog seems to be having a great time. The young lady approaches me and we smile at each other. The dog watches me carefully as I put out my hand and then nervously lets me pet it. Once it’s used to me, it lets me pet it a few more times. Then, it’s off to see what other adventures it can find.
I then see a little head pop out of the water of the lake. It looks like a turtle. Then I see a smaller head pop up. They come over where I’m walking. I’m really quiet so I don’t scare them. The bigger one, which looks like it could be the mother, starts to climb up onto a rock. I grab my camera and take a picture after waiting for a few minutes. I feel like a little kid again enjoying a precious moment with the turtle. After a short time, it and the baby turtle disappear under the water again. I hear the birds chirping in the trees. They express their songs cheerfully.
I always feel like my mood instantly changes when I come here. No, it’s not heaven, but I like to think it’s as close as you can get here in the city.
