"God has allowed hard things in your life so you can show the world that your God is great and that knowing Him brings peace and joy, even when life is hard." (Crazy Love by Francis Chan)
Just as God told Moses "Pharaoh will not heed you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt"(Exodus 11:9) and in our life when troubles come and do not go. God will want to show us that "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9) as He told Paul during his suffering. Like the Isrealites, we all have the tendency to complain because things do not happen right away and we hardly get what we want. We never stop and ask what God wants for our lives or hardly. If we understood that in the times of our seasons of being in the wilderness that God really shows us that He is our absolute source. Then we can really understand His grace and strength when we have absolutely nothing or when we are going through a hard season in our life. Eventually, if we listen and obey God's word. He will show us to the promise land and we will persevere. I think personally, sometimes if God just snapped His fingers and said "You're healed" or "Here's your money" then we may never lean on Him as much or we may forget who He is in our lives if we got what we wanted right away. This isn't true for everyone, and God is capable of doing things right away but He's in it for the journey. Hebrews 12 starts out with "Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,"Being the people who were before us who finished the race "let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us," The weight of the world and the darkness we are so attracted to "and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus," Persevering through the trials and temptations, recognizing Jesus in the midst because He too went through them for He should be our motivation "the author and finisher of our faith," Though Jesus already finished our faith, that doesn't mean we get to sit on the couch saying "Jesus already wrote my faith so why should I have to do anything?" which is not true. In recognizing He finished our faith, we go and do the works that He's called us to "who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls." Jesus saw us as His joy and went through hell on Earth and died the death we deserved. He loved us so much, He persevered to save us. So in our hard times, we should be recognizing Jesus understands what we are going through so that we may understand His grace and His strength in the midst of our trials.
