Dealing with doubt and yet you live like everything is good with Christ makes you lukewarm. It makes you someone who uses the gospel for personal reasons and not live in what the gospel already says. It makes you fall away from Christ when hardships comes because you didn't allow the gospel to form in you the truth of what Jesus did for you.

??Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord" shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
??What Jesus is saying is that those who call Him Lord but do not believe. The people who doubt who Jesus really is, because God does not will for us to doubt Him but His will is that we believe. After that, He continues Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, lord have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me you who practice lawlessness."
??Jesus is declaring to us that we will be doing things in His name. People who go to church, confess Jesus' name, and who are good will be told depart from me. He's referring to believers who believe in Jesus but do not actually know Him. Jesus is talking about the people who have the tag of Jesus on their outward appearence but personally, they know nothing of who Jesus is.
??Francis Chan warns us to Not assume you are good soil (Crazy Love. 67) because like the church of Leodecia, who was lukewarm, assumed that they knew Jesus because of what they did and not by their life. Jesus tells Leodecia that I know your deads; you have a reputation of being alive but you are dead and this is scary when you're a faithful church goer. When you're faithful in doing the works of Christ and you do everything He asks you too. Paul even confronted them in Galatians 2. He starts off by saying I want you to know I have a great confliction. Normally, when someone starts off by saying something like this, that's not a good sign for your church though there isn't condemnation coming from Paul. He begins to ask God that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding to the knowledge of the mystery of God which I believe meant the gospel.
??The gospel didn't seem to be an assurance in their life so because Paul is asking God to do this for them, it's sketchy when he has to then say Now this I say lest anyone should decieve you with persuasive words. Notice in the next chapter of Galatians that Paul is stern with how they have itching ears (2 Timothy 4) saying Foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth. It's not a great day when you are called foolish because the word foolish actually means to be ungodly. And so when a church is being ungodly, not obeying the word of God because someone sold them on something besides the gospel. Especially when whose eyes, Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified which basically the Galatians knew the death of Christ. Were told with affirmation in which why they should even believe in the gospel.
??Sounds like the Leodecia did not have a solid foundation of the gospel like that of the Galatians in which the seeds that Jesus said that he who recieves it in stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures only or a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. People who are lukewarm know the word but do not have a solid foundation, and because Paul warned us to examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves because of the fact that we cannot assume we are good soil. And in the same fact that Jesus continued to the people in Matthew 7, that whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them. Jesus didn't just want us to hear His words but He wanted us to obey Him. Which the Galatians nor the Laodecians did. They heard Jesus' words, but they really didn't hear them. The difference is that their hearts didn't recieve Jesus' words, but all it became was head knowledge. And so because of this, they were unable to produce actual fruit in their lives that showed that they really believed in what they heard.
??Matt Chandler uses part of his testimony when he first was in church that nobody had any issues, nobody had any trouble and all of a sudden divorce, all of a sudden suicide or all of a sudden they get arrested (The village church. Matt Chandler) because nobody had a foundation on the gospel and when things started to get rough. These people Matt explained could not endure tests that came their way. They built up gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw (1 Corinthians 3) on the word of God. Built on selfish reasons for wanting to use the gospel for your own personal good and not allowing the truth of God's word to work in you and form you. You allow what you want to be the gospel to be what you want in your life and not what God wants. Basically when Jesus said those who do the will of My Father in heaven will enter the kingdom of heaven. He didn't say your will nor do what you think is right but He was firm and serious when He said God's will.
??The only way we will even know what God's will is, is when we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us and change us. Because The Holy Spirit has not given you a heart of flesh, a new heart, a heart that loves God, pursues God and has been transformed by the indwelling presence of the Spirit. (The Village Church. Matt Chandler) and when that  happens. We will hear God (receive His word in our hearts) what He wants for us. Then we will know that the foundation on the gospel will be obvious in our lives by the fruit we have and by the fact that we not only do the deeds of God but we are alive in Christ and not dead in our sins.
??When the trials that come before us do not continue to break us but they form us because we know that the Gospel says the exact opposite of any lies, any words that people pursuade us with that doesn't go with the word of God. We can daily asks ourselves in the midst of troubles, What does Jesus say about me? What does the Gospel declare? And not what ourselves, people around us, or what the world wants to declare. The foundation in the gospel will keep us from having doubt in ourselves, in Christ because when we have doubt in Christ, we are not doing the will of God. Believing.
