My hands are gripping tightly onto my friends’ wrist. I look at her face, the fear. She’s as scared as I am. "don't worry," I tell her, trying to calm her down, "it will soon be over." she looks at me, the fear growing in her eyes, as if she was on stage in front of millions of people singing "marry had a little lamb" and she had just forgotten the words. I look at her neck, she's sweating, a lot; I wipe my neck, all the way around, twice. "I hope so," she whispers and smiles like everything's alright. I let go of her and I leave a white mark, like I’ve squeezed all the blood out of her wrist, then I look down, I shouldn't have, but I did, it's a long, long way down, then I realise I’m scared of heights. A shiver runs down my spine and I feel myself turn pale. My legs start to shake as the cold wind blows against my face making it numb for a second. "Why did I even agree to do this?" I ask myself. then I look ahead and try to get my mind off things for a while, I can see everything up here, the sky's beautiful, I think and smile, red, orange, yell- before I can even finish my sentence, I realise we're going down, faster every millisecond. My heart feels like it's going to jump right out of my mouth any second now. I can't breathe, like someone’s punching me in the chest so hard that I’m going to go unconscious. I pretend I’m enjoying it by screaming, but no sound comes out. I try to smile, but the strong wind isn't letting me. Then I feel us slowing down, I sigh with joy, then we stop, like the world just froze. I can't even understand what just happened, takes me a while to see that I lived through something that I could never explain unless you try it out for yourself, “yes we lived," I yelled, well, I couldn't help myself. I look at my friend, her hair all wild, and her face as pale as a ghost, she looks at me, we have an awkward moment of staring, but then we crack up. "that was so fun!" she screams, I giggle, "AS IF!" we get off the ride, buy a hot dog and a can of coke and walk home, "I’m never doing that again," I say to my friend with my mouth full of hot dog, she smiles, "well at least now, your brother owes us each $50." I laugh and throw my tissue into the bin, "yeah," I say as we walk off into the red, orange... And yellow sunset.
