What should have been the best day of her life,
Turned out to be cruelly tragic. Purely fictional

I gave birth to my baby today, A beautiful, beautiful girl, I lay on the bed and kissed her head, Waiting for her hands to uncurl.

I lay her in my arms,

Stroked her tiny face, Waiting for her eyes to open, To catch her wavering gaze. I stare in awe at my baby girl, Watching her mouth, her eyes, Her tiny ears and hands, Listening intently for her first cry. I lean down closer, To breathe in her scent, Purely miraculous, so perfect, Definitely Heaven sent. I look again, Then turn away, Because my baby girl died, On her Birthday. Never will I see her hands uncurl, Or catch her wavering gaze, Never will I hear her first cry, Because her life's been erased. Little did I realise, When on the bed I lay, That my little girl had died, As I gave birth today.
