She cries in my arms,

Body shaking sobs,

She screams for her past,

And her future that's been robbed.

She knows she won't grow up,

Never rebel, go wild,

Never settle down, get married,

She'll forever remain a child.

Aged 11 for all eternity,

No future to look forward to,

My baby girl is dying,

And there's NOTHING I can do.

I watch her slump with exhaustion,

Watch the cancer take it's hold,

She should be anywhere but here,

Hospitals are uncomfortable, cruel and cold.

She'll never fall in love,

Wear a wedding dress, be a mother,

Life is so devastatingly cruel,

I want to take her home and cuddle her.

She sounds like an old woman, though only 11,

My poor baby struggles to catch her breath,

Only 11 but no future to look forward to,

Nothing but unexpected death.
