My baby.....sleeping late,

I'll just check,to be safe,

Open the door, creep into the room,

I immediately sense it,death, doom!

I rush to the cot,Oh my God, she's blue!

Somebody help me, I don't know what to do!

Lift my baby, hug her tight,

Raise her up,hold her upright,

Open your eyes, there's a good girl!

I run my fingers through the mass of curls.

Oh darling, please wake up,I gently shake,

We'll get dressed, go to the lake,

We'll feed the ducks,run about,

We'll  laugh,we'll scream, we'll hop, we'll shout!

Nothing!Oh Lord, help me please,

Strike me dead while I'm on my knees!

My baby girl....died all alone,

I'm a bad mother, I should have known.

Take me too,I'm no use here now,

Grief-stricken,exhausted,my head I bow,

Still holding my baby, though my body feels like lead,

I pray to you Lord, Please, Strike me dead.
