A thousand suns touch naught
 this frozen ground.
The soles of worn and tired feet
 a-standing sound.

Yet my love, we have grown distant,
 Not that you'd see.
And yet my child, our paths we glisten,
 Knees grown weak.

A hollow heart is all we've left
 to carve.
 A broken bayonet for blistered
 scars.

Look up the definition of our pain.
Because I can't seem to comprehend
 this rift we're in.

 I am perfectly alright.
I can see through this plight.
Yet to tell myself I'll need
 to translate.

 My actions are all foreign,
 My words without the band,
 Of literate contortion I
 apply by my own hand.

And now we've fallen in confusion,
 The mist's impenetrable twists.
To form a cage of contemption
In which to steal our wits.

 I have
 Drowned
 Drowned
 Drowned
 So long shot down.
