the essence of you was born
I know your signature scent
I recall the things about you
that at one time I thought were trivial
but, I know now not a single thing about you was ever trivial
& in rare moments
I feel you all around
a protective shroud
with it, your signature scent...
I close my teary eyes & breathe you in
I see you smiling at me, & you say:
"Don't cry Boog." (a nickname you gave me)
I took for granted you'd always be here
& now you're gone.
But, I keep these cherished memories of you in a special place
you're embedded in my spirit, not just my heart.
I could never tell you goodbye.
I'll find you in the next life.

Nice. I find the idea of "signature scent" very unique. I would like to hear you tease that idea out a bit more. Good poem.
