A total dedication

The Time has stopped among the cells of the monks,
A cobblestone passage lead us to an special room,
There you can see disposed in perfect order:
Scrolls, manuscripts, codices and
More than thirty thousand books and many of them incunabula.
Canon Law, religion, politics, history, geography,
Medicine, arts and dozens of other topics.
Most of them written in Latin and Greek
Dates as back as 1,480
Delivered by Fray Francisco and carefully neat,
Some monks dedicated to bookbinding and book restoration
In perfect silence and total dedication
All the knowledge of the western Hemisphere
Kept in that stone building.
Near that room, in the small church
Incense, candles burning on the altars,
Absolute peace and perfect silence.

A unique piece of writing, well penned. Like a story in poem form. An interesting topic too.
