He picks up a knife and cuts into the hollow shaft
Of a white, brown-flecked turkey feather,
Some more skillful cuts,
And finally he made a calligrapher's pen.
In front of him there is a weathered leather satchel,
With other penknives tucked in with goose, swan, and turkey feathers.
He will handwrite a bible on calfskin vellum
Over the next four years.
The illustrations will be illuminated
With:  gold, silver, copper, and platinum.
A great masterpiece
That makes him so proud.
