As bright as daylight it was, for a few seconds, as the lightning flashes erupted from the sky.
A single light was seen in the distance, most likely from the porch of a house down the street.
I stood outside on my porch pondering for what seemed like hours, pacing back and forth,
with the sound of raindrops and thunder both relaxing and exciting me at the same time.
Although I was no more than 20 feet from my bedroom, I was much more comfortable here, where nothing alive dared to disturb me.
I thought mostly of her, and how she was like this storm, beautiful, strong, fearless.
As time went by, the rain poured from the sky in buckets, the lighting striking as often and as unpredictable as a celebratory fireworks display.
My mind was racing, my heart beat quickly and loudly as I continued to walk across the concrete floor.
A huge crack of lighting landed itself nearly 500 yards from me as the tree it struck erupted into roaring flames.
They lasted for no less than a minute before being extinguished by the intense rain still falling from above.
My thoughts exploded, sweat flowed from my pores as I finally collapsed onto the hard ground.
My legs were useless, my vision blurred, I seemed to be dying.

The pain soon eased, and the storm followed, with it calming immenseley without warning.
The lighting became less frequent, the thunder hushed, the rain calmed to a drizzle.
I could see the moon from my place on the floor, and almost immediately,
my thoughts cleared, my heart returned to it's normal pace, and I was able to stand.

As I stood there gazing out into the now clear night sky, I saw that same light, shining as bright as it once was,
not phased by the storm that almost controlled me.
I went off to bed, feeling relieved,

and the the moon's pale blue light was extinguished by the peaceful clouds that began to fill the sky once again...
