"It's happened before and it will happen again"

That same sentence pressing to my temple like the barrel of a gun.

Conceal your concern. This is no fight of yours

Streaming eyes held shut

Teeth gritted and hands trembling.

Finger to the trigger.

Boom.

Thick, warm and dark it trickles down my cheek.

Leaving trails of guilt and suffering.

In my peripheral I see falling black tears

Staining my cheeks and obscuring my view

They drip quickly, rolling like waves

In the calm midnight ocean.

Ink sloshes out, slurring my thoughts

Clogging reality as it gloops and glugs

Blotting out hopes warm hands.

The wall, now splattered with onyx and jet,

Cries tainted tears into puddle.

They hit the floor hard, splashing akin to a ticking clock.

Papers, letters, cards are engulfed, erased.

Soaking, sinking, disappearing into the abyss.

My killer is slow

But determined, like in the movies,

Except more stealthy.

Like the ending of day;

The beginning of darkness.
