Poem by: Charlotte Jayne

Summary

About doing a bit of soul searching. Are you always the same person? Or does maturity take diminish the magic of youth?

The sunlight silk woven like ribbons through her hair
Illuminates all around her.
Happiness sparkles in her eyes
Like glitter in a snowglobe
You imagine where she lays
In the summer. Carefree.
The rich scent of mown grass settles on her skin
Delicately, as the heat blurs her outline.
She'll change your heart like the winds change direction,
That day-dreaming girl in the grass
With the daisy-chain halo,
Smiling in the face of the future.
Maybe he loves me - maybe not
But don't fret tomorrow, today.
Your sighs take you back
To a place in the past
Like looking through a kaleidoscope,
Transported to a world of bright colours and freedom
But try returning to the mirror.
Set your eyes upon her elder
She to possesses beauty, if only more subtle
She to is capable of things unimaginable
For her smiles can light a thousand streetlights
To guide you back home. To where you belong.
