Worried looks

Children's books

Scattered across the wating room floor

?

Curtains closed.
dolls posed

Looking out the gift shop window.

?

A scent of sickness and dying

Surgeon's face is tightening

As so are the stitches he's tying

His shaking hands are frightening

Heart rate drops

Alarm goes off

Blood pressure's at the top

Drops

Family sobs.

?

From broken wrists

To lethal cysts

Babies throwing fits

To the cancer units

From first aid kits

To where the scalpel sits

Where the old woman knits

To a mentally ill patient's clenched fists.

?

Long corridoors

Linolium floors

I explore

What am I looking for?

?

Not alone

Here, in these halls

Spirits of past patients line the walls

The newly crippled child falls

The new widow painfully calls

Her dead husband's name

The surgean bows his head in shame

He knows that saving lives aren't a game

But he feels sorrow all the same.

Bloodstained scrubs

Latex gloves

the spotlight shines above

Life, dying love.

Will they make it out alive?

?

A lullaby plays

A life has made its way

To the beginning of its days

In mommy's loving arms, it lays.

?

His ancient face smiles

Coming out side for the first time

In a long while.

?

Old and new

Renew, renew

Invisible, here with you

Nothing else I'd rather do

I am here to

See you through.
