This poem was apart of a story prompt and it is based upon one of my friendships. We went our separate ways and she became rude and selfish in middle school but as high school came along we both realized that we are The BEST OF THE BEST and nothing could come between us now.

Middle school
Always together,
always gossiping,
There for each other,
"Best of friends"
she called it.
Always forgiving
sharing the good and
the bad times
"Best of sisters"
she called it.
School, classes,
talking and writing,
feeling sad and
feeling happy,
doing it all together,
"Best, best, best friends"
she called it.
And then she left
forgetting all about me.
Sparing no emotions
toward what we once had.
Laughing at me,
teasing me,
calling me names.
What happened to
"best of friends"?
"Best of sisters"?
Middle school went.
high school came,
along with drama,
and attitude.
and developing
into the person that
you want to be.
Along came forgiveness,
laughter and gossiping.
Now I understand
we will always be
"The best of the best."
