Most people say "You have to find yourself before you can be yourself." I know that isn't true. Before you can be yourself you have to create who you are going to be. That is what led to my belief.   I believe that life isn't about finding yourself; life is about creating yourself.
From the time that I was born to now, I have never really known who I was or who I was suppose to be. It wasn't until recently that I have realized, throughout the years, I have been trying to find myself, when I could have been creating myself. It took me a couple of weeks to figure out that I had everything mixed up. The person that I knew I wanted to be, was a person I had to create. That person was always in me.
How to make that person come out, was the difficult thing for me to do. I was afraid that if I changed, people, whom are close to me, would be upset that I have changed. I was afraid that they would not understand why I changed. It was not until recently that I was told to "be myself."
After that I thought "how can I be myself if I am still creating myself?" I do not know who I am yet. I think many people think, who they are when they were teenagers, are who they are going to be when they grow up. I do not think that.
You are still creating yourself even when you grow up. When you are an adult or even an elderly person, you are still clueless about who you really are. It is true that you could have been a doctor or a famous person, but was that you? Besides wanting that, are you truly satisfied; are you truly yourself?
Life is not about finding yourself; life is about creating yourself.
