The Way it Was Before

Clinging to my Mother’s dress,

as it flies away with the wind

A gentle breeze flutters across my face,
with that, she’s gone

Hand rakes across slippery rocks
Fighting to find peace,
yet darkness is the only light I find
Smothering the strength left in me.

Hopeless,
blood so pretty as it trickles down my arm
Scars of your loss
Etched upon me for forever
