I remember when...

I remember the day my brother was born. My older sister and I were both in school. We had been waiting for this day to come for a very long time. My sister had been playing on the monkey bars and fell off and had to have stitches in her chin. My parents were both at the hospital in La Junta already so one of their friends came and took my sister to the hospital in Eads where she received her stitches. Barb, my parents friend, got the phone call before hand that my mother was in labor and waited to tell us until my sister was finished getting her stitches. We were so excited to be on our way to see our new brother.

I was so excited to see my little brother. Finally is all I could think to myself, I've been waiting forever for this day. My sister and I set on the bed with our mom as she let each of us hold our baby brother gently. I had never been so happy in my life! He was so precious, but yet so fragile at the same time. As he laid there in my mothers arms, he never made a noise, he just slept and slept.

My new brother was all I could talk about at school the following week. It seemed that he grew so much while my sister and I were gone to school. I never wanted to leave him but knew that I had to go to school. I was so excited to be done with school so I could get home to my baby brother. To this day, my little brother is my world I love him so much and it is hard to believe he is already fifteen and in high school. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home form the hospital.
