As the only child (a daughter) of the Alpha of the Powell Pack and his mate, Jaci has always been taught the ways of the Alpha.

Wolves in the wild have been known to have female leaders, but when human nature is added to the instincts of the wolf it became an understood rule that males lead, and females do not. With no other Blood Alpha after the death of her parents, Jaci steps into the role of Alpha, much to the displeasure of a majority of the pack, males and females included. Even her own mate has skepticism against her ability to lead the pack.

While her pack turns against each other the enemy pack that killed Jaci's parents are still lurking in the forests beyond her pack's territory just waiting for their moment to strike. Jaci is faced with a daunting task: pull together her pack from within before they are destroyed from without.

****This story is rated R due to violence, language, and some mild adult situations. (It should be PG-13, honestly, but I wanted to be safe and put R and not PG for the sake of the younger people! But it's really not bad if you are not squeamish.)*****
