I used to pass you once or twice, but I didn't really see.
I looked at all the other ones and wished that they were me.
Often times I'd stare at you and pleaded that you'd notice,
But now I guess I've learned the truth and now I finally know this:
When I spot a caterpillar, I'll stop and think of you,
And how you changed my underneath and made my heart so blue.
Inside of you were hate and lies and things I shouldn't mention.
But why tell the truth at all? It causes us so much tension.
The story shaped, the truth then bloomed, and your love for me was gone.
And then I realized suddenly, you faked it all along.
Whenever I do see you though, I'll remember what you said,
But now that the whole truth is out, well, the butterfly is dead.
