Have you ever woke in the middle of the night with the fear of something standing in the dark corners of your room, watching you? Something seeping through your keyhole? Coming to take you away...Drag you into the shadows? You're not the only one...

I lay there, hot and bothered, sweating and writhing within the sheets that had clung to me.

My back twisted and arched, arms reached forth in search of my bedside cabinet; a lamp perched upon its oak surface.

But I couldn't feel  it. The darkness! it seeped though the soft crack in my curtains...

it was after me! They were after me! I needed more light, more protection.

Where was the lamp? Straining fingers grasped at the air just to disappoint.

A chill rolled up my exposed arm, soon running through my entire body.

They've got me!!

Yelping, legs flared into the air, soon followed by arms. I could hit them! scare them away.

The short outburst was hastily accompanied by me wrapping myself up in the sheets, all hot and bothered, chilled and scared.

Morning will come soon, I know it will. Those eyes! Those eyes under the bed....

Such big, golden eyes I saw the other night.

Fearful I couldn't help myself but to look once more, head flipped over the bed's edge to get a good view...Nothing but Darkness.

Then a loud scutter. The eyes returned! Blazing an unholy yellow shade.

Morning will come, morning will come....

Morning did come..The horrific yellow eyes seemed to belong to the grey feline curled upon my bed.

The shadow people? We'll meet again another night.
