A Day Spent with Gran

By: Chiqui

Grannies are the very best
‘Cause they never make you rest
Hidden in the cookie jar
You will always find a milky bar
When she is busy baking a cake
A cup of tea, for us she will make
Granny says we are busy as bees
Please be careful when you climb trees
In her back garden we make mud pies
And she will help us to catch butterflies
Nighttime is our favourite time
We all on top of her bed do climb
She tells us stories of giants big, fat and tall
Until we shut our eyes and into deep sleep do fall
Then she tucks us in real tight
With a soft kiss on the cheek goodnight
When we awake
Our breakfast does wait
With egg and bacon a muffin or two
She’ll say..”I made this specially for you!”
Off to the beach we go hand in hand
We all try to walk in her footprints left in the sand
We build sand castles with tunnels and all
And decorate them with hells and pebbles big and small
Out comes the picnic basket full of treats
And believe me Gran never forgets the sweets
We take a swim in the waves of the sea
While Gran counts the seagulls 1, 2,3
Then back to Grannies house we all go
Singing, laughing and swaying to and fro
“You better get bathed!” she will say
As we have now come to the end of the day
She holds us tights and stills our fears
From thunder and lightening coming near
Then it is time to say goodbyes
It is amazing how quickly the days time flies
“Thank you Granny for a wonderful day
We pray that tomorrow again we may play!”
