What 'Rock' really is?

The rock music lovers(most often the younger generation) of our country frequently
receive a lot of unpleasant reception from our seniors or even our friends(who are
not into such things) when we listen to our favourite music genre in front of
them.A big misconception largely prevails in our country folks that rock music is
a meaningless, rhythmless piece of garbage, a mistake that has to be removed from
our thinking.

Rock music, a popular genre of music, entered in the mainstream in the 1950s.
Since its birth, it has seen many sub-genres produced from it, most notably rock
and roll, heavy metal, grunge and many more. In it is purest form, it has three
chords, a strong insistent back beat and a catchy melody. But rock music has
proved to be flexible enough for any type of instrument.

Rock has proved to be not just another genre of music but of wave of a different
generation that has seen the most gifted people in music history utilise it to
convey their feelings, their message, their experience and views to the world. We
can take the examples like The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Bob Marley, Nirvana,
Metallica, Aerosmith, AC/DC who have united the world through rock music by
developing a common interest in the people. The songs like 'Buffalo
Soldiers'(against racism) by Bob Marley and 'Blowing in the Wind'(against war and
violence) by Bob Dylan are worthy examples of what rock music is capable of.

Although our own country's music cannot be ignored and and nothing can be taken
away from their quality, nontheless we cannot stay ignorant but should learn to
accept something that has proved to be better throughout the globe eventhough it
may be different. Yes, it may be loud, it may be a bit out of the exact definition
of 'rhythm' but that is rock music for you!
