The Descent

Here I am all alone again, negative thoughts I’m loathing in

Diving deep I’m going in, pains below from the shoes I’m growing in,

The stream of moods I’m flowing in, the paranoia starts showing in

Ways deep inside, far past my pride, near a little boy that cries

I feel something new begin to rise, much to my own surprise

In the shadows it lies, I can see them out of the corners of my eyes

That’s when their voices begin to rise, telling tales of my demise

The kind no one else can hear, no one can tell how hard it is to steer

How hard it is to keep things in gear, when you’re stuck in your own fear

An enemy that just won’t appear, a foe they’d never know is near

When everything is so unclear, it can be hard to see how severe

Life beneath the surface is becoming, paranoid delusions running

Out the window watching for someone coming, they aren’t there, so cunning

The descent is subtle but stunning, it gets to a point where it’s numbing

The feelings you’re losing, several different pathways you’re choosing

The traffic gets confusing, jammed up top rush hour’s refusing

To let up the duality, either-or will still equal the same totality

Through a distorted sense of reality, the descent brings peace within finality.
