"Abandon (Left Behind)"

By Christian Taylor

Feeling of being left behind,

Beginning to set in.

It was bound to happen eventually,

Of course, no thought of the matter,

Until it hits you with an emotional force;

Crumbles you from your foundation.

~

Watching those you called friends,

Go off to new lives,

A chapter added to their life story.

Words does one express or say of that sinking feeling,

Of being left behind.

So many ways to wish a good luck,

So many good-byes to say,

So many reasons I wish,

Had I never taken our friendships for granted.

~

Feeling of loneliness and abandonment,

Only lasts for so long; as long as the person, lets it.

Soon the feeling of being left behind goes away;

As if life goes on without disregard.

Memories last forever, abandoned only temporary.

Emptiness brings good memories of days that once were.

The next chapter of life only begins without knowledge.
