Looking up at the heavens
Masses of cotten
Creep up from the horizon as I watch
Slowly the skies become darker
As the sun hides behind them
Faint flashes of light brighten the skies
Followed by the sounds of drums in the distance
As the storm approaches

As they came closer
The birds stop singing a tune
At first, the trees are dead still
Even the green leaves don't make a move
As the winds came
The trees sway back and forth
The leaves hang on for dear life
The scent of rain fills the air
Being carried by the winds
Raindrops begin their descent to the ground below
Few at first, but millions more follow

As the storm passes over
Rain pounded on the roof
Making a constant roaring sound
Blinding flashes of light become constant
Cracks of thunder creates the window glass to almost shatter
Lights from homes to street lights go dark
But only for a few seconds
Knowing that somewhere out in the abyss
Babies and little children cry with fear
Looking for comfort in the loving arms of parents
Soon the storm will pass
And all will be well again
