I hear the whimpers in the distance
Like I was dreaming, but being wide awake
I can see the tears rolling down your face
Like rain falling from a darken sky
In my imagination
The feeling of emptiness consumes you
Like falling in a deep hole with no way out
The cry I hear
Puts the bravest of souls at their weakest

The cry I hear only seems to get louder
Like the sound of an oncoming train
The images in my head keep playing over and over
Like a song stuck in repeat
The feeling of saddness begins to take over
Like a disease that you can't control or cure
I yell in frustration
Wishing to find comfort
But the cry only puts me at unrest

With each sound, image, and feeling
That I hear, see, and feel
I feel lost
Like waking up in unfamiliar place
Wishing it were a dream
I see dispair
Like being in a nightmare
And I couldn't wake up from it
I feel helpless
Like watching someone die in front of you
And you couldn't do a thing to stop it

Cry as you may
Until the eyes turn red
Realizing that I can't stop living
Walk away I will
Knowing that the cries will stop eventually
And my soul is restored
But scared for life
