So many times I held your hand,
You slip through mine like grains of sand,
Hid your feelings safely away,
Unknown, unheard and left to decay,

Why is it you chose to tell me then?
When both our tempers were at their end,
Exactly, how was I meant to reply?
Most I could manage was a tear to my eye,

As that tear fell it stained my cheek,
There it shall remain, week upon week,
For I shall never again hold your hand,
As you lay still on no-man's land,

Through the midst of all that pain,
My future torn to black remains,
Why is it I thought only of you?
Oh yes, that's right, I loved you too.
