Longing tears plough the ground

carving varicose rivers

claiming the new clay

I cradle to myself

Trying to reshape the form of us

Before arid trials cracked and split

the place we knew

I ride the remnant trickle

backwards in my mind

chasing echoes of you

A patchwork of frozen moments

stained images fading out

You are standing in a mist

I caress one last time
