60. Magister Musicae.
Ode and sonnet to Mrs. Cecily,
Her majestic radiant, foxy grin.
Productive rehearsal moved easily;
Youthful musicians yearning to begin.
Musical conversation resounding,
Kind patience with the problematical,
Her bright, lovely humor abounding,
Inspiring even the fanatical.
Rewarding our hard efforts with knowledge,
Egalitarian though commanding,
Treating us more like we were in college,
We hardly saw that she was demanding.
Our compliments would paint a blush on her.
Could you blame those who had a crush on her?
This is a photograph of the teacher who inspired this character and the sonnet, Portia Sonnenfeld. May God rest her soul.
