Eternal Tree

I am the unseen force that rides the wind,

the mistress that is Nature,

I am her hand, her very brim.

No physical peril or earthly pleasure

Matters to me any more.

Only that which I am – which is me.

From the sparrow to the roc

Barbarian and King

Maiden and monster

Warrior and wizard

Every stream and river

Every mountain

All the seas.

The infinite cosmos

Every blade of grass,

Every tree.

Primitive savagery,

Honor and lust.

Truth, obscure and light,

All that is just.

Glory and regret, beauty and horror.

All that matters to me,

is that I will join the gods

In their eternal tree.

And then, one who is worthy

may someday walk the path that now tread I

and be me.
