Rain patters on the roof

like nervous fingertips

my bed holds me close

In arms warm

My head hurts

My eyes sore from crying.

Sheets with your smell

Love bites mar my neck

Makeup smeared

Eyes red and dry.

This life is quiet

My fingers have none to intertwine

I don't have you there to call you mine

Just time.

Throat hoarse from screaming

My heart is bleeding

My stomach is empty

There is no need to feed

Snow and ice

A breeze sharp like knives

I wonder if you feel it too.

Emptines can be everlasting

Eyes cannot stay dry

My lips seek yours

I see only walls.

Every second crawls

until I feel you again

a glowing presence in my hand

Whisper in my ear with warm breath

Until our hearts beat

They are in cold hands

I reach out through spiderweb strands

Our defeat is not our last

Their scornful words were only air

I'll hold you tight

In the arms of sanity

I'll keep you warm in the grip of frailty.
