When did your soul quit smiling?

When did you die inside?

When did all your emotions

Decide to curl up and hide?

When was your spirit murdered?

When was your heart shattered?

When did someone destroy you,

As if you never mattered?

When did your heart resolve

Never to love anymore,

To forever seal its armor,

Permanently lock the door?

I don't know how to help you,

Put back together your pieces;

I don't know how to ease your pain

Until the heartache ceases;

So I apologize,

For being of no aid,

But, unsure of how to fix you,

I must leave you in heartbreak's shade.
