Mercy woke with a start. She held in the screaming that threatened to overpower her at any second. She reached over grabbed her anxiety medication and downed two pills. She heard argueing downstairs and wondered if her father had come home drunk agian. Mercy shook her head and looked around her small room. She didn't have any posters, and only had a few drawings that her mother had done once upon a time. She rubbed her head with her hands and considered going to the bathroom, until she heard glass shattering.
Ray, her father, was a drunk. Her mother swore that he only did it because they were having such a rough time with money, which she knew was a lie. Ray drank for fun, and then, if she was around, liked to use her as a punching bag. He never thought twice about throwing her across the room. He never flinched when he slapped her or punched her. And everytime, she got back up. She wouldn't let him beat her down, even though he tried over and over agian. She heard a door slam and her mother start crying, but instead of getting out of bed, she just went back to sleep.

*******
Mercy walked down the hallway and into the kitchen. She froze when she saw Ray sitting there. She took a deep breath and walked to the fridge, trying to ignore him. She had already managed to her curly black hair in a ponytail, and had slid on her glasses.
"Are you going to ignore me girl?"Ray snapped. Mercy turned and looked at him, his amber eyes that matched her own, meeting in the middle.
"I have to go to school. I'll see you later tonight."She said. She had made it three steps when she was thrown off her feet.
"Don't you sass me. You should respect your father."he said. She stood up and walked out the door.
She walked two blocks before she felt a weird presence, like her dreams. She turned around and looked for something that was there. But there was nothing. Nobody was standing behind her, or reaching out to her like her dream, with those strange eyes. She turned and started walking agian, this time, only to jump when she swore something touched her.
"Mercy?"Someone said, making her jump agian. She saw Abbi, a girl who had recently transferred to her school.
"Did you see something touch me?"Mercy asked, glancing over her shoulder. Normally she wouldn't talk to anybody, but Abbi had drawn her in.
"No. Why, did you feel something?"Abbi asked as they started walking to school.
Mercy kept quiet the rest of the way, ignoring all Abbi's attempts to talk. Mercy knew what it was like to become friends with somebody who would just leave, and whats the use of trusting somebody if they could easily turn on you, hurting you mentally and physically. She wouldn't live with that. Part of her honestly believed that, but another part, the buried part, wished for something more. That was why she greamed of him. Whoever he was, he had a look in his eyes that made her want to hug him and stay close. And thats why she couldn't touch him.

*******
"Mercy, can I have the answer to number three?"David asked. She looked over at the cute blond boy and looked down at her paper, which was almost done.
"v = 50(4/2)(3/4)(30)(7)"She said. His eyes widened and he looked over at her paper.
"How in the world did you figure that out?"He said, and she sighed and explained it to him. He still seemed dased, but that wasn't her problem.
She shoved her books in her bag and felt that strange feeling agian. She kept still for a second and then barely glanced over her shoulder. She saw him then. The same guy from her dreams, with his shaggy black hair and skinny build. She jerked, tried to see him better, but he had disapeared agian. The bell rang, making her jump, and she grabbed her bag and left. She rushed off the school grounds, thinking to herself that something was off.
She felt the attack coming on, moments before she was on the ground. She grabbed her bag and searched threw it for her medication. She felt the chills and her stomach turn over, and when she saw her hand, she was twitching. This wasn't a good sign, and she knew it. She managed to find her medication and downed four of them, instead of her normal two. She laid down in the abondoned lot, letting the rain pelt her as she regained her sences. She hadn't even realized it was raining. She felt something brush agianst her cheek, but tried to ignore it.
"Whats the point, you'll just dissapear agian."She mumbled. She stood up and walked the rest of the way home.
Then she saw Ray's truck, along with some other vehical she didn't recognize. She wasn't sure if she wanted to go inside, but decided she couldn't do anything else. She walked up to her door and opened it, the wished she could run as a pair of hands gripped her and threw her across the small hall. She scrambled up, dropping her bookbag, and looked at her attacker.
"See, I told you my daughter was a beauty."Ray said. She looked behind her, and saw another man. He was taller then Ray, but not as built. There was something about him that scared her all the same.
"Ray, you weren't kidding. Does she really take everything?"He asked, and Mercy's stomach rolled.
She backed away as the other man came closer to her, but didn't flinch when he hit her across the face, making her fall to the ground. She looked up at Ray, who just stepped onto her back, pinning her to the ground. She wanted to scream, but refused to give them the pleasure. Instead, she grabbed the preasure point on his foot, making him yelp and let her up.
"You little bitch! I'll kill you!"He screamed, running at her.
He hit her sqaure in the face, knocking her the the ground. He pulled out his knife, and she saw the heart pendant she had put there when she was little, before the beatings. Instead of using it though, he started punching her, beating her. She was almost unconsious when she heard the front door open and her mother scream. she caught a sight of her mother, phone in hand.

*******
Mercy looked around. She was sitting in a nice chair, and looked around. The chair was grey, while everything else in the strange room was white. She felt no pain, and touched her face, but everything was perfect. She heard the footsteps, and looked up to see him. There he was, standing there. His liquid diamond eyes staring at her with a strange kindness.
"Hello Mercy. My name is Reaper."He said. He reached out to her and she looked at his hand."I have an offer for you. Would you like to join me, become one of my Grim Reapers, a judger of souls?"She reached out and grabbed his hand.
She felt the rush, the wind flying by her. She didn't know what was going on, but she heard the beeping of a machine, and felt the cords attached to her. She pulled them off her, a little scared, and saw her mother crying. She looked over and ran over and hugged her.
"My baby, oh, my sweet Mercy."her mother said.
"When I looked in your liquid, diamond eyes, I knew I had finally met my dreams."She said to Reaper, looking at him, and he smiled. Her mother looked to were she was looking then back at Mercy.
"Who are you talking to?"She asked. Mercy looked fro Reaper to her mother, then back. Reaper shook his head.
"Its not over yet, my Mercy."He said, and dissapeared. She looked at her mother and threw her arms around her. What wasn't over? And what was she now?
