This is a poem I wrote some years ago after I went to Crossroads, a charity that distributes items to the poor and needy around the world, and learnt about refugees. I changed this poem a bit before posting it here, so it's not the original.

I cannot run, I cannot hide.
It's getting dark, it's turning night.
People are searching all over for me -
Searching from Africa to the Middle East,
And without any hiding places left,
I will be at the brink of death,
If they ever find me
And take me away.

I'm all alone, I've nothing left.
My family is already dead.
So I ask the Lord, I ask Him why
He had to let the bullets fly,
And I ask Him why this had to start,
And when will we eventually part.
