This was another piece of coursework. It was to display both sides of opinion and then a conclusion as to whether we agree with her death being in the public eye as it was.

Anywhere you go, newpapers, magazines, and televisions are flooded with images and footage of Jade Goody's last few weeks of life. The question is however, is this right?
Everyone recognises Jade as the loud mouthed bully from the reality tv show, Big Brother, this is where when she first found out about the cancer she burst into tears and announced it live. The majority of people thought that she was playing it all for the fame, until they found out her cancer had spread. When she first found out, she wanted to die straight away so that her sons could get on with their lives. However, once the media caught the story, it wasn't long before everyone was talking about it.
She, and her publicist Max Clifford had sold pretty much every aspect of her struggle to fight the disease to the press, even contemplating televising her death and selling the rights to her funeral. She died with little to no dignity.Millions upon millions have and will die of cancer, but unfortunately, not all of them get the chance to become as famous for it.
I heard about a few typical OK magazine readers say how much of a rolemodel to everyone she was, that she was someone people could look to for strength etc. It's like Lance Armstrong's efforts mean nothing. He beat cancer, went on to smash records in the Tour De France, picking up so many awards along the way, and being an all round nice guy it seems. He should be a role model to people diagnosed with cancer, whereas Jade Goody has been brought up to be loud and inconsiderate to some people and has managed to claim the title.
Papers were flooded with horrific images of the celebrity and everyday the stories printed grew more and more negative. Although some people disagree with this, and how Jade has decided to die in the public eye, it's the public that has made this all possible, the media and the people of the world are enjoying this kind of entertainment, despite living in a society that tries to block out death. No one wants to hear of death, so how much of the publicity of Jade's death is about her going against this?
She was classed to some, as ''dim-witted'' for publishing her stories, I don't think she was all that dim-witted, either she was smart or her publicist was smart either way she knew enough to create herself into a media machine, one that made her millions, which wasn't for her to live the high life, it was for her children's future. Only a parent can understand that kind of love and the desperation it will drive you to. To want better for her children, all she needed was a powerful motivator, which is what she got.
Not all of Jade's public death was seen to be completely negative, Jade has brought awareness to many women of the world who have now requested the cervical cancer screening age to be lowered to 20. My views on this are strong as many people are dying because they weren't allowed to be treated when they were first diagnosed because they were apparently ''too young''.
I still feel however that getting the age lowered for the screening isn't enough to get her the publicity that she did. On big Brother she was the loud mouthed bully. It was there she became the embodiment of "Famous for nothing" which I think caused quite alot of resentment towards her, she was pretty much seen as the National Village Idiot, her talent was that she was utterly without talent, which is why people watch shows like The X Factor, American Idol etc. It's not for the Leona Lewis or Kelly Clarkson, it's for the supposed ''biggest idiot'' of the world, and Jade was their leader, which made people think that you could get famous for the fun of it.
I don't feel Jade was a completely awful person, nor do i believe she was stupid, it was just the way she was. No matter who happens to be one of the many unfortunate people who have cancer, it's not an amusing thought. And I certainly don't find it amusing to watch one person, be it by cancer or something else, die.
March 22nd, Mothers Day, was when Jade died.  I think it was this part that made most people feel sorry for her family, especially her two boys as it was Mothering Sunday on which she happened to die in her sleep. It was at this point were her family finally turned the cameras away and asked to grieve in peace.
I personally don't feel it was right for her to die in the public eye however, it was Jades choice as to how she died, whether it be quietly or in the public view as it was, all in all, she's gone now, and whether she was a mouthy bully or a quiet considerate person, she was a young mother with cancer who died, and my thoughts are with her family and friends.
