I reflect on love...two sides of it, at least.

What a beautiful thing it is to be loved

The romance, the light, the beat of their heart near yours

"Your happiness is my happiness"

It makes you sigh

Soft dreams breath silk in the moonlight

Their fingers bringing you home

At last at last AT LAST

That gentle curve you fit in perfectly

Skin to skin, like newly released butterflies

Cocooned in your gossamer reality

But wait...

Those bruises marching up your spine, BAM BAM BAM

The guilt, the shame, the knot in your stomach

Every time they open a door

Don't let the light see you as you are

A tragedy in the making on the bathroom floor

Eyes dry as a desert, pinched away from the truth

Family surrounds you, but inside...

Scars remind you that you are alone

Just a patched-up Raggedy Ann

So far from home

A stranger without a place to roam

What an ugly thing it is to be loved
