When you cry your tears of sorrow for me,

I will be listening as they fall upon your face.

And when you cry out for me in the night,

I will cry too because I miss your embrace.

The nights will seem longer and the days

will seem not quiet long enough.

I will be missing you dearly, though

Although saying it isn’t enough.

Now I see you’ve fallen asleep from the pain.

I stroke your face knowing you wont feel me.

I have left you all alone in this world.

All because I thought I wanted to be free.

You didn’t know it, but I was looking on

as you discovered my lifeless body that day.

I wanted to take it back, what I’d done,

but death told me I just couldn’t stay.

You fell to the floor grabbing at my face.

You tried to breath your life into me.

You screamed out for help, but it was too late.

I had already sealed my destiny, unfortunately.

People told you I was unhappy to begin with.

They told you I was depressed and on drugs.

What no one told you was how much I loved you

And how I treasured every kiss, every hug.

I am forced to watch you grow every day.

I can’t leave your side and move on as I should.

I have to stay and protect you from harm

Just as any loving and good father would.
