This is about an unexpected event. The scenario is real and it happens everyday. As with all my writings I try to keep it real and un sugar-coated.

You looked away when I told you the news.

Please, try and put yourself in my shoes!

You paid me no attention and gave no comment.

Why is it me that you now resent?

It takes two, or that’s what they say.

I didn’t plan this, want this, or anything, no way!

You helped this along, yes, you did!

Now you expect me to raise this kid?

I was beautiful to you before this happened,

And now I’m just invisible, alone, and saddened.

You keep walking with your head held high

While I go to appointments and struggle just to survive!

Play your sports and hang with your friends

I’ll just sit here alone and try to pretend.

I’ll try to pretend that my belly isn’t getting bigger.

I’ll try to pretend that I’m not getting sicker.

When this child looks to me and says, ‘where’s my dad?’

I will once again pretend that I’m not sad.
